{"id":662,"date":"2018-05-04T12:41:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T12:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stanfordinfo.co.za\/blog\/?p=662"},"modified":"2018-05-04T13:45:19","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T13:45:19","slug":"herfsfees-6-7-april-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stanfordinfo.co.za\/blog\/herfsfees-6-7-april-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Herfsfees, 6-7 April 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vibrating with autumn colours<\/p>\n<p>This was the first year that a small vibrant group of like-minded people\u00a0launched the Stanford <a href=\"https:\/\/herfsfees.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Herfsfees<\/a>, a new arts festival for Stanford with the goal of reaching deep into our community and uplifting all with art, music and creativity. The line-up was generous, starting with a week-long arts and crafts workshop run by local NPO, Creative Skills Factory, which climaxed at the parade to launch Herfsfees on the \u00a0Friday evening. The spirit and exuberance of the minstrels was intoxicating as people joined in the revelry of music and dance, and followed the <a href=\"http:\/\/baruchentertainers.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baruch<\/a> performers through the village. Villagers and children joined in the parade as they danced, jived, drummed, trumpeted and entertained their way from the Community Centre to the NGKerk garden, homebase of the newest Arts Festival in Stanford. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TribalEchoBand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Tribal Echo<\/em><\/a> stole the hearts all the audience on the Friday Night with their funky local flavour and cool drums, trombone and energy, while<a href=\"https:\/\/mrcatandthejackal.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em> Mr Cat and the Jakkal<\/em> <\/a>had everyone dancing.<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ibuyambo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Ibuyambo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hatchetmanband.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hatchetman<\/a><\/em>, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Nick-Turner-Music-626739470710245\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Turner Band<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Dax-Butler-409233229142909\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dax Butler and the Hearts of Darkness<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/nataal.com\/taleswapper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taleswapper<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thetimeflies5\/?rc=p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Time Flies<\/a><\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Gert-Vlok-Nel-Die-Offisi%C3%ABle-Blad-120657414626323\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Gert Vlok Nel<\/em><\/a>, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ammon.china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>DJChina<\/em><\/a> had the village dancing to their beat. Well done Herfsfees 2018!
