Platbos Forest Walks and Accommodation
Accommodation:
Platbos Forest is a privately owned Provincial Nature Reserve. Just a two-hour drive from Cape Town, Platbos offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself into the heart of this wild yet gentle indigenous forest. It is indeed a privilege to overnight in the forest: Platbos is one of the largest remaining fragments of lowland Afromontane forest found between Grootvadersbosch and Table Mountain – less than 0.05% of the Western Cape is home to old growth forest. Day visitors are welcome to enjoy our forest trail. Please see https://platbos.co.za/the-forest-trail/ for directions and related fees.
Our accommodation forms part of the Platbos Forest Reserve and as such has been designed to cause as little disturbance to the forest environment as possible. Each unit is secluded and private – offering guests a total retreat from the hustle and bustle. We have five different options to choose from:
The Bush Buck Suite: set beneath a magnificent and ancient white stinkwood tree on the forest edge, this cabin has an indoor fireplace and is one of our most popular units for a romantic get-away. Rate on request.
The Honey Bee Suite: this is our only unit with a wood-fired hot tub, and like the Bush Buck Suite, is also a very popular choice for romantic weekends away. Rate on request
The Old Olive Cabin: a cute and cozy wooden cabin with an indoor fireplace, perfect for a couple or friends sharing (there is a sleeper couch in the sitting room) and a double bed in the bedroom. Rate on request.
The Forest Camp: a fantastic option for a family or group of friends – this venue sleeps 4 in two permanent tents. Rate on request.
The Owl Camp: This is our only camping stand at Platbos for guests to pitch their own tent – and as a result is extremely popular! The facilities are for the exclusive use of those booking the site. Rate on request.
